Adopt Saule

Female · Adult · 8 years

A stray dog arrived at the shelter when the owners left the country. We could tell she had not been a loved dog - cautious with everyone, hiding her fear behind aggressive barking. Over time, shelter Saule reveals herself as a well-mannered, communicative, seeking the attention and presence of people. The only thing that Suni does not like are small children - her reaction to them makes us think of a very unpleasant experience in the past... We are looking for a home for Suni where there are no small children and the owners understand dog training. Slightly trained, Saule becomes an extremely loyal and very nice friend to her own. We would choose this dog as a friend and companion, because there is a feeling of potential to become the most, most, most fantastic dog in the world. Saule loves walks, so the owners should also be supporters of an active lifestyle; she is well-mannered and reliable.

Vilkveidīgā sunīte patversmē nonāca, saimniekiem izbraucot no valsts. To, ka viņa nav bijusi mīlēts suns, varējām sajust – piesardzīga pret visiem, bailes slēpjot aiz agresīvas riešanas.

About Saule

What life with Saule looks like

Saule is a adult dog waiting at Labās Mājas in Riga.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇱🇻Adopting from Latvia

The shelter typically completes the animal's vaccinations, microchipping, and pet passport before adoption. Specific fees and process details vary by shelter and country — confirm directly via the contact details in the sidebar.

Frequently asked

Adopting Saule, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Saule?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Labās Mājas handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Saule on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Saule if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Labās Mājas will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Saule already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Saule isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Labās Mājas early rather than rehoming privately; they know Saule and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (LV). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
