Dulux

Mixed Breed · Male

Dulux was once a dog of the Polish Lowland Sheepdog type. He was - because he no longer resembles that, and certainly did not look like a PON on the day he came to our foundation. He appeared suddenly - dirty, neglected, with dreadlocks instead of fur. No one knew where he came from or how long he had been alone. Fortunately, he found a good person and temporarily found shelter in a garden plot. The owner allowed him to stay, made a makeshift shelter for him, and started coming to feed him. Thanks to her, he survived the winter. Almost three months passed. A lonely dog on the plot and only one person who remembered him. The elderly woman helped him as much as she could, but real help had to come. When we took him over, we saw how neglected he was. His fur was a big crust with mats. Large, matted dreadlocks pulled the skin and caused him pain with every movement. Everything had to be shaved, because it was no longer possible to comb it out. The worst was the huge lump on his tail, which looked very bad and left little hope that Dulux would reach old age. Thanks to the donors' help, we managed to organize funds for a quick operation to remove the lump, which - fortunately - turned out to be a benign change. And then we knew that Dulux still had a chance for a good life. He needs a home, preferably with a garden and a yard that will be his enclave. Dulux never looked like a dog from a paint advertisement, but we believe he will be one day. If you want to see in what condition he came to us - check the photos at the collection link:

Właścicielka działki pozwoliła mu zostać, zrobiła mu prowizoryczne schronienie i zaczęła przychodzić, aby go karmić.

About Dulux

What life with Dulux looks like

Dulux is a adult mixed breed dog waiting at Fundacja Niechciane i Zapomniane SOS Zwierząt (Łódź) in Poland.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Dulux, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Dulux?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Fundacja Niechciane i Zapomniane SOS Zwierząt (Łódź) handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Dulux on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Dulux if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Fundacja Niechciane i Zapomniane SOS Zwierząt (Łódź) will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Dulux already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Dulux isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Fundacja Niechciane i Zapomniane SOS Zwierząt (Łódź) early rather than rehoming privately; they know Dulux and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
