English Bulldog · Male · Puppy

Animal’s Name: Horst Inventory Number: 145_S_26 Reason for Admission: Official Seizure In the Shelter Since: April 23, 2026 Breed: American Bulldog Gender: Male Color/Fur Length: Tricolor Date of Birth: January 1, 2020 Withers Height/Weight: Approximately 55 cm / 45 kg Location Found/Reason for Surrender: Official Seizure Animal Description: July 2026 The 6-year-old Horst is looking for a new home where he can be challenged, encouraged, and well-guided. As is typical for his breed, this intelligent male dog isn’t overly eager to please, and he’ll require a stable relationship with his human companion as well as a bit of “tough-love sensitivity” to bring out his motivation. In general, Horst is a friendly dog, yet he tends to overprotect his “person,” especially in certain situations. His future owners will need to possess sufficient mental strength and authenticity to clearly set boundaries and relieve him of excessive responsibility. Horst gets along well with female dogs, so we could envision him as a second dog in such a pairing. However, his compatibility with male dogs is more limited. Horst is seeking people with dog-experience who can provide him with the necessary stability and establish appropriate limits. If there are children in the household, they should already be at an advanced teenage age. As a dog of certain breeds according to §10 of the North Rhine-Westphalia State Dog Act, Horst is subject to mandatory muzzle and leash requirements in addition to official approval for keeping him. His owner must present the corresponding proof of competence. Unfortunately, spontaneous visits are not possible. If you’re interested in Horst, our adoption counselors are available for initial phone consultations from Monday to Friday between 2–5 p.m. and on Saturdays from 1–4 p.m. We kindly ask that you adhere to these times, as after regular business hours...

How do I contact the shelter about Horst … ein top Typ in den richtigen Händen?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Moers handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Horst … ein top Typ in den richtigen Händen on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Horst … ein top Typ in den richtigen Händen if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Moers will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Horst … ein top Typ in den richtigen Händen already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Horst … ein top Typ in den richtigen Händen isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Moers early rather than rehoming privately; they know Horst … ein top Typ in den richtigen Händen and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
