Kubuś

Mixed Breed · Unknown

I am Kubuś. I am an older dog and what I need most now is peace, security and a person with whom I can live out my golden years with dignity. I came to Psitula on August 4, 2026 after someone threw me over the fence of the allotment gardens on Weber Street. It turned out that I had been here before on April 30, 2021, but then my owner took me back. Today, my owner is in a serious condition in the hospital, and the circumstances of my abandonment are being explained by the Police. Due to my health condition, I spent the first days in the Veterinary Center. I was in pain, I was terrified and initially I tried to scare everyone away with my teeth. Today it is known that it was probably the pain and huge stress that spoke through me. Now it is much better. I have convinced the caregivers, I willingly eat medicines hidden in baked pastry and I love short walks, during which I sniff a lot and really enjoy life. I am a bit of a grumpy old man, but at my age I guess I have the right to it. I have a sick liver and severe degeneration. We know that finding a home for me may be difficult due to age and health problems. And yet I don't need much - a soft bed, quiet walks, a full bowl and a person with whom I feel safe. Maybe someone will love me just for this most important, last part of my life?

Mam chorą wątrobę i silne zwyrodnienia.

About Kubuś

What life with Kubuś looks like

Kubuś is a adult mixed breed dog waiting at Schronisko Zabrze in Zabrze.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Kubuś, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Kubuś?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Schronisko Zabrze handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Kubuś on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Kubuś if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Schronisko Zabrze will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Kubuś already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Kubuś isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Schronisko Zabrze early rather than rehoming privately; they know Kubuś and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
