Kucēni

Female · 3 months

Days will pass and the little puppies will grow into big, brave dogs. Their mother - a medium-sized black female dog (visible in the last photo) - wandered onto the premises of a company in Ācones, Salaspils municipality. At first, the site guards only fed her, but one day the little black one gave birth to 6 puppies... Now the whole family (dad, of course, unknown) is in our home. The dog was not microchipped. 4 boys and 2 girls are looking for owners who are aware of the real responsibility that comes with bringing a puppy home. Your usual daily life will be turned upside down. The baby will need to be socialized, taught, and, when the time comes, sterilized (reporting back to the shelter afterwards). Along with that, there will be puddles to clean up (teaching to go outside), destroyed belongings (everything that is not placed at a safe height), and many other mischiefs. Are you really ready for this responsibility, which modern society rightly demands of dog owners? If the answer is yes and you have carefully weighed all the pros and cons of the new life, you are welcome to come and meet us first and convince the shelter that you will be the best owners - and only then get your little rascal!

Dienās no mazajiem suņbērniem izaugs paliela auguma brašuļi.

About Kucēni

What life with Kucēni looks like

Kucēni is a adult dog waiting at Labās Mājas in Riga.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇱🇻Adopting from Latvia

The shelter typically completes the animal's vaccinations, microchipping, and pet passport before adoption. Specific fees and process details vary by shelter and country — confirm directly via the contact details in the sidebar.

Frequently asked

Adopting Kucēni, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Kucēni?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Labās Mājas handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Kucēni on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Kucēni if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Labās Mājas will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Kucēni already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Kucēni isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Labās Mājas early rather than rehoming privately; they know Kucēni and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (LV). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
