Adopt Laney

Podenco · Female

Laney was rescued form the streets and lured with food, once she was trapped it was apparent she had an injury to her hip which she has received surgery and physiotherapy treatment for. Laney is such a lovely spirited dog and has overcome a lot, she is sweet natured and playful with other dogs. She loves cuddles and affection from the team members that care for her - they all adore her. Her hip injury that she is still recovering from does not cause her problems, but she would need a calmer life and would not be suitable for hikes or running activities. She could live as an only dog or with other respectful, well balanced dogs. We think a calmer pace of life outside of any major cities would suit her with lots of green spaces to explore. She does need a garden and could happily live with older children that can understand she needs to be treated gently. Laney will be neutered, vaccinated and tested for all Mediterranean diseases - she will need ongoing physiotherapy every 2 weeks but this will reduce over time to just require monitoring and regular vet checks.. She is passported and available for adoption now. If you would prefer to make a one off donation, please click below

About Laney

What life with Laney looks like

Laney is a adult podenco dog waiting at Hope for Podencos in Albacete.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇪🇸Adopting from Spain

Spanish protectoras generally include sterilization, all vaccinations, microchip ID, and EU pet passport in the adoption fee (typically €250–€400 for a dog, €100–€180 for a cat). Many maintain partnerships with rescue transport providers across the EU.

Frequently asked

Adopting Laney, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Laney?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Hope for Podencos handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Laney on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Laney if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Hope for Podencos will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Laney already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Laney isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Hope for Podencos early rather than rehoming privately; they know Laney and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
