Adopt Luna

Female · Young · 2 years

Get to know the beautiful Luna! This young lady is on the lookout for a calm and loving home where she can be herself. Luna came to us because her watchful personality was no longer fitting in her previous situation. That's why we are now seeking a place where she has more room to breathe. At the animal shelter, Luna was a bit uncertain and shy around new people at first. Give her some time and approach her calmly, and she will soon blossom into an absolutely loving and loyal companion. Once she trusts you, she enjoys long walks, attention, and cuddle moments. She seeks support from her trusted people and can snuggle up close to you. Luna is a young dog with plenty of energy. She loves taking beautiful walks and walks nicely on a leash. Traffic and hikers do not excite her, and she likes to stay close to you. Toys or a ball are not her thing; she enjoys going on walks together much more. With enough guidance and a gradual build-up, she might even be able to go for walks without a leash in the future. For Luna, we are looking for a quiet household without children and without other pets. A home with one or two adults and a garden would suit her perfectly. People who give her time to adjust will receive a loving, loyal, and affectionate dog in return. Do you think you can offer Luna the safe home she is looking for? Contact us to meet her. This animal is not suitable for homes with children.

About Luna

What life with Luna looks like

Luna is a large young adult dog waiting at Dierenasiel Utrecht in Utrecht.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇳🇱Adopting from Netherlands

Dutch shelters typically require a household assessment and an adoption contract. Animals are routinely sterilized, microchipped, and registered in the national pet database (NDG) before placement.

Frequently asked

Adopting Luna, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Luna?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Dierenasiel Utrecht handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Luna on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Luna if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Dierenasiel Utrecht will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Luna already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Luna isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Dierenasiel Utrecht early rather than rehoming privately; they know Luna and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (NL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
