Native Land: Hungary Talpas, the beautiful terrier, has been one of many shelter residents in Kecskemét since December 30, 2025. He was found homeless in the community of Helvécia and reported to the shelter. The shelter staff immediately acted, and Talpas was safely secured without any injuries. During the chip check, they found that the chip was registered, and the owners were informed, but they stated they no longer want Talpas back. What can one say? But it’s probably better for Talpas, as he likely didn’t mean much to them and his condition wasn’t top-notch. He has many loose whiskers and still needs to gain some weight. We cross our fingers for Talpas that he will soon win his ticket to happiness, for he deserves the world’s best home! A bit older, male, black, and large, all adjectives that make it not so easy to find Talpas a loving home quickly. People are needed who have a big heart for older dogs and see what a great dog Talpas is, because he can really score with the following adjectives: attentive, friendly, handsome, lovable, nice, grateful, loyal, and with his heart in the right place. Even though Talpas is a bit older, he is curious about the big, wide world and wants to explore it with his new owners. He doesn’t belong to the old iron anymore and should be allowed to spend his second half of life with dignity and love, perhaps even for the first time in his life feeling that he is valuable and that there are people who care for and protect him. Talpas gets along well with other animals; during the day, he plays with many other dogs at the playground, and at night, he is alone in a kennel. (As of February 12, 2026) For our beloved Talpas, we urgently seek a loving home (or a foster home) where he can take beautiful and varied walks, where he is not exposed to the cold and heat, where he has a soft bed to rest, where he never has to suffer from hunger and thirst, where he is spoiled with many cuddles, where he receives a lot of love and care, and where he is lovingly and forever accepted into the family. Talpas is ready for the adventure of a new life! On February 22, 2026, a voluntary, Hungarian helper writes: "Talpas came into the care of the shelter at the end of December 2025. On the mentor day, he had the opportunity to go for a walk with his mentor. Talpas is a sweet, friendly, and kind dog. He is very people-oriented and also likes children. On the leash, he walks nicely. He started the walk lively, active, and curious. He is attentive, likes to sniff, and explores his surroundings, as there are so many interesting things along the way. He came to the animal shelter very thin and has not had much of a good life so far. Therefore, he now wants to make up for everything he has missed. He is very eager to learn and longs for love. Cuddles and affection, he gladly accepted. He went for a walk with another dog. According to his data sheet, he loves other dogs. He can be well integrated with an already existing dog." On April 26, 2026, a voluntary, Hungarian helper writes: "We met Talpas on the playground of the shelter in April 2026. He is a very sweet, people-oriented, and clingy dog. He strongly seeks the company of people, is cuddly, and wants to be with them all the time. Currently, he lives with a dog named Gerad and has adapted well to the situation, both stood patiently together to receive affection and cuddles. Talpas is attentive, clever, and wants to be liked." Ursprungsland: Ungarn Der wunderschöne Talpas ist seit dem 30.12.2025 einer der vielen Tierheimbewohner in Kecskemét. Er wurde herrenlos in der Gemeinde Helvécia gefunden und dem Menhely gemeldet. Die Tierheimmitarbeiter rückten sofort aus und Talpas konnte unversehrt gesichert werden. Bei der Chipkontrolle wurde man diesmal sogar fündig, der Chip war registriert und die Besitzer wurden informiert, doch sie liessen verlauten, dass sie Talpas nicht mehr zurück wollen. Was soll man da noch sagen? Aber vermutlich besser für Talpas, denn viel kann er ihnen nicht bedeutet haben und sein Zustand war auch nicht top. Er hat viele Liegeschwelen und muss auch noch weiter etwas an Gewicht zulegen. Wir drücken Talpas fest die Daumen, dass er bald sein Ticket ins Glück lösen darf, denn er hat das weltbeste Zuhause verdient! Schon etwas älter, männlich, schwarz und gross, alles Adjektive, welche es nicht ganz einfach machen, für Talpas schnell ein liebevolles Zuhause zu finden. Da sind Menschen gefragt, welche ein ganz grosses Herz für ältere Hunde haben und sehen, was für ein toller Hund Talpas ist, denn mit folgenden Adjektiven kann er wirklich punkten: aufmerksam, freundlich, hübsch, liebenswert, nett, dankbar, treu und das Herz am richtigen Fleck. Auch wenn Talpas schon etwas älter ist, ist er neugierig auf die grosse, weiter Welt und möchte sie, gemeinsam mit seinen neuen Besitzern, entdecken. Er gehört noch lange nicht zum alten Eisen und sollte seine zweite Lebenshälfte in Würde und geliebt verbringen dürfen, vielleicht überhaupt das erste Mal in seinem Leben spüren, dass er etwas wert ist und es Menschen gibt, welchen er etwas bedeutet und welche ihn umsorgen und beschützen. Mit seinen Artgenossen versteht sich Talpas gut, ist tagsüber mit vielen anderen Hunden auf dem Spielplatz, in der Nacht ist er alleine in einem Kennel. (Stand 12.2.2026) Für unseren allerliebsten Talpas suchen wir ganz dringend ein liebevolles Zuhause (oder eine Pflegestelle), wo man mit ihm schöne und abwechslungsreiche Spaziergänge unternimmt, wo er nicht der Kälte und Hitze ausgesetzt ist, wo er ein weiches Bettchen hat um sich auszuruhen, wo er nie mehr Hunger und Durst leiden muss, wo er verwöhnt wird mit vielen Streicheleinheiten, er viel Liebe und Fürsorge bekommt und wo er in der Familie liebevoll und für immer aufgenommen wird. Talpas ist bereit, auf das Abenteuer neues Leben! Am 22.2.2026 schreibt eine freiwillige, ungarische Helferin: "Talpas kam Ende Dezember 2025 in die Obhut des Tierheims. Am Mentortag bekam er die Möglichkeit, mit seinem Mentor spazieren zu gehen. Talpas ist ein lieber, süsser, freundlicher und gutmütiger Hund. Er ist sehr menschenbezogen und mag auch Kinder. An der Leine läuft er schön. Er startete lebhaft, aktiv und neugierig in den Spaziergang. Er ist aufmerksam, schnüffelt gern und erkundet seine Umgebung, denn unterwegs gibt es so viele interessante Dinge. Er kam sehr dünn ins Tierheim und hat vom Leben bisher nicht viel Gutes bekommen. Deshalb möchte er nun alles nachholen, was er bisher verpasst hat. Er ist sehr lernbegierig und sehnt sich nach Liebe. Streicheleinheiten und Zuwendung nahm er freudig an. Er ging gemeinsam mit einem anderen Hund spazieren. Laut seinem Datenblatt liebt er andere Hunde. Mit einem bereits vorhandenen Hund kann er gut zusammengeführt werden." Am 26.4.2026 schreibt eine freiwillige, ungarische Helferin: "Talpas konnten wir im April 2026 auf dem Spielplatz des Tierheims kennenlernen. Er ist ein sehr lieber, menschenbezogener und anhänglicher Hund. Er sucht stark die Nähe von Menschen, ist verschmust und möchte ständig bei ihnen sein. Aktuell lebt er mit einem Hund namens Gerad zusammen und hat sich gut in die Situation eingefügt, beide standen gemeinsam geduldig an, um Zuwendung und Streicheleinheiten zu bekommen. Talpas ist aufmerksam, klug und möchte gefallen." Medizinisches Update vom 3.3.2026: Talpas wurde auf Hautwurm positiv getestet und mit der Behandlung wurde begonnen (6 Monate lang 1 Advocate alle 4 Wochen). Wem darf Talpas ein treuer Freund sein?
