Tuck

Mixed Breed · Unknown

Little Tuck is no more... My little Tuck, throughout all these trials, you showed exemplary courage. We knew we were fighting against this damned crab, more precisely against these damned crabs. Cytologies, histologies, scans followed one after another... The assessment of your epitheliotropic lymphoma had shown pulmonary metastases and revealed a spinal sarcoma. Each new development devastated us a little more, and you showed us unbreakable courage. Then a third cancer joined the game, a melanoma of the soft palate, which was inoperable... You fought, and we chose to fight alongside you. The lymphoma responded to chemotherapy, the sarcoma and melanoma to radiotherapy. We knew it was a palliative rather than curative protocol, and we chose to help you not suffer and to live your little dog life. You were so happy to go to your radiotherapy and chemotherapy sessions, joyfully you climbed into the car and left your volunteers to join the cancer team. The sarcoma was consolidated and the melanoma had regressed, you even had gained weight... We were happy and were looking forward to the next chemotherapy session. Suddenly on Sunday, your breathing became difficult. We rushed to the emergency where you were placed on O2. Monday we could take a walk, but the veterinarian's assessment wasn't good, the pulmonary metastases had progressed and you were in respiratory distress. It was so hard to hear those words... We consulted the oncologist who gave us no hope, the potential molecules were incompatible with your treatment to fight the T-lymphoma. We also consulted your general practitioner. Tuesday we made our last visit to you. You had been weaned off O2, but going down into the garden caused new respiratory distress. Searching for air is the worst thing... We couldn't inflict that on you... We could stay with you for a while, give you cuddles, talk to you, kiss you, tell you how much we loved you. Then you left in our arms, surrounded by our love, and bathed in our tears. Never again will we be able to laugh and say " Tuck Tuck Tucky." You had a tough start in life Brother Tuck of the Broï Kan, born in a breeding, sold to individuals who had nothing better to do than sell you to a dealer. Filomène of the Broï Kan had the same fate. Arriving in a city along the perimeter road, you both survived, but were thrown over our gates... 20 Shar-pei in a short time, including a litter of Filo and you. It was necessary to treat you, then to find you good families. You were never very cooperative with strangers and didn't let yourself be approached too much. Yet, one day there was a family. They already had a Shar-pei and knew everything better than anyone else. You spent a week with them and our "experts" brought you back with your favorite bowl, saying you hadn't eaten, while we had explained that without this bowl in your dry kibble you wouldn't eat... You were picky, we knew that well... Your legendary reserve Mr. "Couine-couine" made you stay with us. You had to be tamed, but you were such a kind dog. How difficult it is to speak about you in the past. Today Fara mourns you, as we all do, but I promised you I would take care of her. For several months you had an exceptional diet, meat in addition to rehydrated dry kibble and the can. We fed you by hand. You had many dietary supplements. Everything was done to avoid you any suffering. The last image that will remain engraved in me will be your curiosity in front of a horse, also in care. I love you my Tucky, and I know all the volunteers have blurred eyes upon hearing this news. We all love you and you are forever in our hearts, even though for now we still have so much difficulty accepting it.

About Tuck

What life with Tuck looks like

Tuck is a small adult mixed breed dog waiting at Animaux sans Foyer in Montgeron.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇫🇷Adopting from France

French refuges follow the SPA framework: adopters sign a cession contract that includes sterilization, vaccinations, microchip identification, and rabies passport. Fees are typically €150–€300. Many refuges work with rescue transport partners for cross-border placements.

Frequently asked

Adopting Tuck, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Tuck?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Animaux sans Foyer handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Tuck on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Tuck if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Animaux sans Foyer will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Tuck already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Tuck isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Animaux sans Foyer early rather than rehoming privately; they know Tuck and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (FR). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
