Elle pèse à peine 3 kilos, et quand nous l'avons trouvée dans l'une des cages du refuge public de Sparta, nous avons presque eu le souffle coupé. C'était le pire chenil de tous. Elle était le premier chien que nous avions eu de là-bas, et quand nous l'avons soulevée pour la sortir, un sourire est apparu sur notre visage. Et ce sourire est toujours là. À chaque fois que nous la regardons, à chaque fois que nous passons du temps avec elle, nous sourions. Même quand elle était maigre et atteinte de pelade, dans son malheur, elle avait un charme. Nous l'avons appelée Erinaki (d'un chant populaire grec des années 1930). Elle est restée si petite pendant environ un mois. Elle ne mettait qu'un peu de poils. Et soudainement, après un mois et demi, après avoir mangé correctement et avoir reçu suffisamment de soins, elle a commencé à grandir. Et à grandir encore plus. Jusqu'à devenir celle qu'elle est aujourd'hui. Aujourd'hui, quand nous la regardons, c'est comme si le chien maigre que nous connaissions il y a plusieurs mois était un autre animal. Si nous n'avions pas vécu et pris soin d'elle, et si nous ne l'avions pas vue changer, nous ne l'aurions pas reconnue. Mais d'une certaine manière étrange, Erinaki semble avoir les deux chiens, le premier et le second, à l'intérieur d'elle, et c'est quelque chose que nous ne pouvons pas expliquer autrement. Il faut la connaître pour comprendre. C'est un chien à la fois courageux et timide, elle est petite mais parfois elle se sent énorme, elle est douce et en même temps elle a l'air grognon. Si elle n'avait pas été malnutrie au début de sa vie, peut-être serait-elle maintenant deux fois plus grande, peut-être pas. Elle a une figure de chien de grande taille dans un corps de petit, et c'est l'une des choses qui la rend unique. Regardez la VIDÉO de son histoire.

She is barely 3 kilos, and when we found her in one of the cages in the public pound of Sparta , we nearly collapsed. It was the worse kennel of all. She was the first dog we got from there, and as we lifted her to carry her out, a smile appeared on our face. And that smile is still there. Every time we look at her, and every time we spend time with her, we smile. Even when she was thin and full of mange, in her misery, she had a charm. We named her Erinaki (from a popular Greek song of the 1930s) She stayed so small for about a month. She only put out hair. And suddenly, after a month and a half, after eating well and getting enough care, she began to grow. And to grow even bigger. Until she became who she is today. We look at her today and it's as if that skinny dog we knew months ago was some other animal. If we hadn't lived and cared for her, and if we hadn't seen her change, we wouldn't have recognized it. But in some strange way, Erinaki is as if it has both of these dogs, the first and the second, inside her, and this is something that we cannot explain in other words. One has to get to know her to understand it. It is a dog that is both brave and shy, she is small but sometimes she feels huge, she is sweet and at the same time she looks grumpy. If she hadn't been so malnourished at the beginning of her life, maybe now she would be twice the size, maybe not.
