Aristos

Mixed Breed · Male · Senior · 12 years

Aristos finally wants to experience joy in life. The fine Aristos had an owner. The word "owner" is exactly right, because that's all it really was. He was tolerated by him, received food and water, but was never allowed to live in the house or be by a person's side. When his owner died, Aristos was suddenly put on the street because he was no longer useful for the heirs. How must this sweet guy have felt? Now he lives in the animal shelter on Aegina and learns day by day that human contact can be more than just putting food in front of him. He is learning that people can be kind, can gently stroke him or simply smile when Aristos is near. His sadness is fading day by day. It became clear that Aristos knew very little or nothing at all. No playing with other dogs, no cuddling. But Aristos deserves more than just growing old in the animal shelter. He finally wants to belong, to a family that gives him love and affection and where he is welcome. So we are searching for him. Aristos has quickly adjusted to the animal shelter and understood that this is his chance for a better, happier life. He has found connections with other dogs, loves playing together or lying in the sun, and currently shares a hut with his friend Frieda. He is balanced, friendly, and now runs up wagging his tail when he sees his trusted people. Aristos learns quickly. He walks well on a leash, knows a few commands and always behaves calmly. Sure, Aristos is not a young dog anymore, but he is also not yet part of the old guard. He is a gentleman in his prime years and wants to fully enjoy them with his family. Aristos wishes for balanced people who bring light to his eyes and heart. He has few demands, as long as he is given love and time.

About Aristos

What life with Aristos looks like

Aristos is a medium-sized senior mixed breed dog waiting at Aegean Dogs e.V. / FAZA Aegina in Berlin.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Aristos, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Aristos?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Aegean Dogs e.V. / FAZA Aegina handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Aristos on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Aristos if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Aegean Dogs e.V. / FAZA Aegina will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Aristos already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Aristos isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Aegean Dogs e.V. / FAZA Aegina early rather than rehoming privately; they know Aristos and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
