Devo

Mixed Breed · Male · Senior · 12 years

Devo is an older gentleman dog - one of two brothers who came to the animal shelter in May 2025, in the autumn of their lives. Both were assessed to be around 12 years old. Devo and Devi are practically identical, quite bold and gentle, just slightly frightened in human interactions. They approach every procedure - whether putting on a collar or attaching to a leash - with suspicion, but without aggression. Thanks to their peaceful attitude, volunteers first managed to dress the boys in tick-resistant collars and regular ones in different colors too, so that Devi and Devo can be distinguished 😊 In the next week of their stay at the animal shelter, the boys were dressed in harnesses (probably for the first time in their lives). Then, somewhat nervously, sometimes getting tangled in leashes which they had hardly known before, they carefully walked one after the other behind the volunteer to the yard. At the yard, they finally relaxed a little, sniffed every corner, and then followed the volunteer slowly as if she was their mother. But we didn't stop there - and in July Devo and Devi went on their first walk outside the walls of the animal shelter. The dogs walked quite well, so their first walk was full-scale. Devo blocked a few times, then followed his brother, but because of their crooked (due to life and previous living conditions, as we assume) paws, they get tired much faster. Nevertheless - we managed to include walks into the routine of both boys. However, we still observe that too many people around, too much noise and commotion stress both dogs and cause them to run into the shed. But we are optimistic. We work with our older gentlemen and are looking for good homes for them. Because every dog's place, especially an older one, is by a person's side, not behind the bars of the animal shelter.

About Devo

What life with Devo looks like

Devo is a large senior mixed breed dog waiting at Schronisko dla Bezdomnych Zwierząt w Milanówku in Poland.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Devo, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Devo?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Schronisko dla Bezdomnych Zwierząt w Milanówku handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Devo on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Devo if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Schronisko dla Bezdomnych Zwierząt w Milanówku will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Devo already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Devo isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Schronisko dla Bezdomnych Zwierząt w Milanówku early rather than rehoming privately; they know Devo and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
