Horacy

Mixed Breed · Unknown · Adult · 4 years

An eternal puppy in the body of an adult dog - this term probably best describes Horas. A spark in the eye, a mischievous ear twitch, a smiling muzzle, and an endless desire to play - these are the characteristic features of this beautiful dog. With Horas, there is never a dull moment. He loves fetching balls and playing with stuffed toys. Basically, everything can become a toy for him - an old blanket, a hair clip, a hat, a food container or a piece of a stick. Most of all, our German shepherd loves people, and spending time with them is his absolute priority. That is why every walk is a real holiday for him! During a walk together, he often turns back to the person to make sure they are definitely going with him. He also gladly puffs out his chest and exposes his belly for petting. He would surely be a great comfort for a family. It's easy to imagine him running around the garden with children or bringing them thrown balls. Horacy is not a small dog, but he is completely easy to handle. There is no problem with brushing, checking his paws, or looking into his mouth. He has also learned several commands - he knows "sit," "lie down," "shake hands," and turns. He gladly performs all exercises that help strengthen his hind legs. He is certainly able to learn more, as he catches new tricks quickly, and working with a human (especially with a treat or a ball) gives him great pleasure! At first, on walks he tends to pull, but once the initial excitement passes, walking with him is a pleasure. While staying at the animal shelter, Horacy learned to pass other dogs, but he is not their biggest fan, so it would be better if he lived in a home without canine company. Horacy is no longer the youngest. He is not tiny, fluffy, nor a sweet puppy. In the sad world of homelessness, such animals have it easier - the smaller, younger, and prettier ones. And what about Horacy? How can he compete with them, how can he try to find a home, despite so many advantages, such a wonderful character? But he tries, believe me, he tries very hard, every day. Without losing hope, without losing his good spirit, joyfully enjoying every display of kindness and interest that comes his way. And all this despite more than four years spent behind bars ... And we really want him to finally start enjoying life by his human's side. We don't know how much time remains for Horas, but it's less than before. And he shouldn't waste this valuable time in the animal shelter. But to live the best dog life - with his own human who will give him love, care, and presence. And he will love him until the end of his days.

Wieczny szczeniak w ciele dorosłego psa – to określenie chyba najlepiej opisuje Horasia. Chętnie wypina też pierś i wystawia brzucho do głaskania. A Horacy? I będzie go kochał do końca jego dni.

About Horacy

What life with Horacy looks like

Horacy is a adult mixed breed dog waiting at Schronisko dla Bezdomnych Zwierząt w Milanówku in Poland.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Horacy, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Horacy?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Schronisko dla Bezdomnych Zwierząt w Milanówku handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Horacy on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Horacy if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Schronisko dla Bezdomnych Zwierząt w Milanówku will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Horacy already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Horacy isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Schronisko dla Bezdomnych Zwierząt w Milanówku early rather than rehoming privately; they know Horacy and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
