Lester – Labrador retriever ter adoptie

Labrador Retriever · Male · Senior · 11 years

Hoi… I'm Lester. Yes, that big blond cuddly bear you might have seen wagging his tail before you even saw me. I'm eleven years old, but don't let that fool you: in my head, I'm still a young puppy with a motor that's always on. My body might be a bit older, but my soul? It still jumps up and down every day. I ended up at DOA through another shelter. My owner couldn't care for me anymore… and that was something I was really sad about at first. You think: Where's my human now? But then all these new people came. Caregivers, volunteers, cuddlers, cookie-givers, I'm still categorizing them. And they give me so much attention that I actually felt right at home here. So I also like to go with everyone. Really with everyone. If you walk out, I walk out. If you walk in, I walk in. If you just think about walking, I'm already ready. And outside? Well, there I look at everyone expectantly. Because you never know who wants to pet my head. I'm a Labrador, after all. We're born with an inbuilt cuddliness mode. I still love playing. At least… the beginning. You throw a ball, I run after it enthusiastically, ears in the wind, tongue out of my mouth, totally the idea that I'm a sports dog. But then… halfway… I suddenly think: Wait… what was I doing again? And then I come back cheerfully. Without the ball. Because yes, that whole ball-returning concept never really landed with me. With a floss rope it's the same. Playing together? Fun! You throw? Then the game is over. Pulling on the floss? No way, why would I do that when I can just stand next to you and be happy that you're paying attention to me? Maybe I never really learned to play. But honestly? I'm mostly happy that you're here. That you laugh with me, walk with me, pet me, and see me for what I am: a happy, sweet, sometimes forgetful Labrador with a heart that always wags.

Lester – Labrador retriever ter adoptie is a senior labrador retriever dog waiting at DOA Dierenasiel Amsterdam in Amsterdam.

How do I contact the shelter about Lester – Labrador retriever ter adoptie?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. DOA Dierenasiel Amsterdam handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Lester – Labrador retriever ter adoptie on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Lester – Labrador retriever ter adoptie if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — DOA Dierenasiel Amsterdam will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Lester – Labrador retriever ter adoptie already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Lester – Labrador retriever ter adoptie isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with DOA Dierenasiel Amsterdam early rather than rehoming privately; they know Lester – Labrador retriever ter adoptie and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (NL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
