Tramp

German Shepherd · Male

Tramp ID #: 1043653 Breed: German Shepherd mix Age: approx. 04/2021 Gender: male Shoulder height: approx. 65 cm Neutered: Yes Location: Marbella (Spain) Inquiry form Tramp (*07.04.2021, approx. 65 cm) is an impressive figure who stands out visually but is still searching for his place in the world inside. He is a dog with rough edges but also immense potential for those who want to work with him. He currently lives in our Spanish partner animal shelter Triple A, where he is cared for by our volunteers on-site. At heart, Tramp is a very insecure dog, both in interactions with humans and with fellow animals; he lacks the basic principles of socialization. However, when he is in work mode, he shows respect and learns incredibly quickly. Once you win his heart and trust, a completely different dog emerges: clingy, playful, and a real clown. Tramp can be excellently motivated with food; his curiosity often outweighs his fear, making him highly trainable. His story, unfortunately, is typical of misunderstood dogs: he was surrendered to us because his owner could no longer take care of him. His biggest problem currently is encounters on the leash. When strangers approach him, due to his insecurity, he knows no better way to handle it than to take the initiative to flee. His strategy has been to snap, as he has never learned to resolve situations differently. Work is already being done on this: Tramp is familiar with training using a muzzle and accepts it well. We are not looking for beginners for Tramp; instead, we seek dog-experienced individuals with patience and composure. Tramp needs someone who takes the decision-making away from him, holds his hand securely, and shows him that he does not have to regulate things himself. He is an active dog who requires a lot of exercise and would be the ideal companion for long hikes once leash training is firmly established. Tramp has the potential to overcome his insecurities and become a loyal partner. He just needs someone to continue the "rough diamond" training and not shy away from the work. Tramp is vaccinated, microchipped, and has an EU pet passport. For travel arrangements, he is neutered, tested for Mediterranean diseases, dewormed, and treated for fleas. About Tramp

What life with Tramp looks like

Tramp is a adult german shepherd dog waiting at Helfende Hände e.V. in Germany.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Tramp, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Tramp?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Helfende Hände e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Tramp on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Tramp if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Helfende Hände e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Tramp already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Tramp isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Helfende Hände e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Tramp and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
