Adolfo ID No.: 1047623 Breed: German Shepherd Date of Birth: 11.09.2018 Sex: male Shoulder height: approx. 65 cm Neutered: Yes Location: Marbella (Spain) Inquiry form Adolfo – loyal and loving companion seeking his perfect humans Adolfo (* 11.09.2018, approx. 65 cm) was found together with his German Shepherd friend Astoria on the boulevard in Marbella and brought to our Spanish partner shelter Triple A. Both wore collars, leading us to believe they once belonged to a traveling group. Initially, Adolfo struggled—he was quite reactive toward other dogs on the street and became highly overstimulated when with Astoria. We separated them for a while so they could calm down. This time has worked wonders; Adolfo has developed into a fantastic and balanced dog. Like most German Shepherds, he suffers from the stressful daily shelter routine, but as soon as someone engages with him, he blossoms. He focuses wonderfully on his person, enjoys walks in nature or trips to the beach, and loves being thoroughly petted. He is very intelligent, loves learning immensely, and responds beautifully to treat-based motivation, making him an excellent partner for scent work, agility, or obedience training. If you’re looking for a dog who will focus entirely on you and accompany you on hikes or during training sessions, we recommend adopting him as a single dog. Adolfo would be very happy as an only dog but could also join a confident female dog already in the home. With male dogs, he ideally still needs some guidance in dog socialization if he’s to live in a very dog-dense area. Outside the shelter, he walks wonderfully relaxed on leash and rides calmly in the car. Bicycles, cars, or scooters don’t bother him, and he always behaves respectfully toward passersby. We’ve only noticed that he’s afraid of men with walking sticks—he’ll need understanding support and reassurance from his humans in these situations. A major advantage is his healthy anatomy: Adolfo has a beautiful, straight back and does not suffer from the typical sloping hips seen in many German Shepherds. He is a healthy, strong male dog now ready for his forever home. Adolfo is vaccinated, microchipped, neutered, and holds a European pet passport. For travel arrangements, he has been tested for Mediterranean diseases and has been dewormed and treated for fleas. Impfungen Ja Mittelmeercheck Ja Microchip Ja Krankheiten Keine bekannt Anlagehund Nein Schutzgebühr 500 € inkl. About Adolfo

What life with Adolfo looks like

Adolfo is a large adult german shepherd dog waiting at Helfende Hände e.V. in Germany.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Adolfo, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Adolfo?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Helfende Hände e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Adolfo on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Adolfo if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Helfende Hände e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Adolfo already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Adolfo isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Helfende Hände e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Adolfo and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
