Adopt Lobo

Mixed Breed · Male · Young · 2 years

Hello, I'm Lobo – a big guy with a heart even bigger than my paws. I was born in April 2021 and from the first day I had a home. I grew up with my people: I had my bowls, toys, my favorite spot in the corner of the room, and each day had its rhythm – morning greetings, walks around the neighborhood, afternoon naps. I felt safe and loved… until that one incident. In 2022, a misunderstanding arose between me and my caregiver. Maybe it was a spark that ignited long-standing tensions? People tried to consult with a specialist, but quickly backed out. Mistakes repeated, frustrations built up, and I understood less and less what they wanted from me. June 2024 arrived and everything fell apart. I was moved to a garden plot – a lonely dog's life, without comforts and without walks (my owner could no longer cope). Then my person got seriously ill and was hospitalized. His wife made a difficult decision: either I would find a new home or I would go to the animal shelter. Ads didn't help, because I am big, strong, and my story caused fear. When I arrived at the animal shelter, I was terrified and lost. I didn't know what I was getting into. Fortunately, they gave me time and space to rebuild trust. On the very first day I used the run, and some staff became true friends for me – I allowed myself to be petted and I took real joy from it. My ears really hurt – I was constantly flicking them. The staff knew I would need a muzzle, so step by step, with positive reinforcement, they showed me it wasn't anything scary. Thanks to this, I could finally go out for walks again and restore my beloved routines: mornings on the grass, afternoons in the shade of trees. Without these simple pleasures, the day was empty. Now I feel best when I have regular walking hours and clear rules of behavior. It gives me a sense of security and peace. Do I still have a chance? I believe I do – if I find a family that understands my needs, provides me with space, and sets simple, clear rules. A few facts about me: - I have current vaccinations and deworming. - I am neutered. - I love long, varied walks and walk really nicely on a leash. - With children it can be harder – due to my size and sometimes strong reactions. - Other dogs attract me like a magnet, but this time I'm working on it with the animal shelter staff and I believe it will only get better. I'm waiting for you and your warm heart. Maybe you are the one who will give me the home I deserve?

Nadchodził czerwiec 2024 roku i wszystko runęło. Potem mój człowiek poważnie zachorował i trafił do szpitala. Jego żona podjęła trudną decyzję: albo znajdę nowy dom, albo pojadę do schroniska. Ogłoszenia nie pomogły, bo jestem duży, silny, a moja historia budziła lęk. Kiedy trafiłem do schroniska, byłem przerażony i zagubiony. To daje mi poczucie bezpieczeństwa i spokoju.

About Lobo

What life with Lobo looks like

Lobo is a large young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Schronisko Zabrze in Zabrze.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Lobo, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Lobo?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Schronisko Zabrze handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Lobo on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Lobo if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Schronisko Zabrze will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Lobo already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Lobo isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Schronisko Zabrze early rather than rehoming privately; they know Lobo and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
