Dagas

Mixed Breed · Male · Adult · 6 years

The only downside of mine is that I'm a bit of a nervous type. You wouldn't say that otherwise. I'm a nice dog, everyone speaks well of me, and I'm friendly, but sometimes I get nervous in certain situations. Others think it's nothing, but I know the reason. For example, a crying child. How can you not get upset? Why is he crying? Or a bicyclist passing by. Not all of them. Only some. The first three don't bother me, but the fourth one! Who gave him the right to ride a bike? Such things spoil my mood for a minute. Or, for example, when we're walking in the city and a woman comes towards us. Smiling from ear to ear, so happy! What did she come up with? Doesn't she know local customs? No matter how well you live, you can't show off. But she walks on smiling. How can I not react? I bark a little. You should know that you shouldn't do that. But the funniest thing is that I get upset, and everyone smiles at me and talks to me. No one believes me when I'm serious. And you know why they don't believe? Because all the other times I'm grinning from ear to ear. Basically, I'm a contented dog, a happy one. It's good to live, it's good to walk, it's good to snuggle up to a loved person, it's good to have such people. But these nerves... Yesterday, Nosis thought maybe my nerves aren't from a good experience. I have all these scars, I look at everything with one eye - it seems like I had some painful event once, and now I don't have 100% confidence in everything. Nope! A very important "but" - I'm very trainable. Someone working with me can help control these nerves. For example, going into the city, there are so many objects that could annoy: so many crying children, so many bad drivers, so many people (even in Klaipėda during summer), but we walk in the city and I only get upset a few times over small things. We pass a cruise ship crowd, they talk to me in an unknown language, but everything is fine for me, no nerves. But I'm not a city dog. For an owner who likes challenges and wants to work with his dog, yes, I would be a great choice to live in city conditions. But for someone who doesn't want these challenges, who wants to take his dog everywhere without thinking, without fearing that something might not like him somewhere, I would be too much. Therefore, a calmer environment would be a better choice for me. But not laziness in one yard all my life. Just from unchanging smells sniffing around, nerves would eventually get anyone, even Hal. In short, I'm looking for a person who likes to spend time where it's quiet, and who really needs loving dog companionship.

Kam klykt? Arba pro šalį pralėkęs dviratininkas. Ne visi. Tik kai kurie. Pirmi trys nesuerzina, bet tas ketvirtas!.. Kas jam dviračio teises davė? Va tokie ir sugadina nuotaiką visai… minutei. Arba va, einam mieste, priešais pareina moteris. Išsišiepusi iki ausų, visa tokia laiminga! Ką ji čia sau sugalvojo? Nežino gal vietinių tradicijų? Kad ir kaip gerai gyventum, negali išsiduoti. O ji eina ir šypsosi. Ir kaip man nereaguot? Sureaguoju! Man faina! Prasilenkiam su minia iš kruizinio laivo, jie čiauška man nežinoma kalba, o man viskas gerai, jokių nervų. Todėl man ramesnė aplinka būtų geresnis pasirinkimas. ____________________________________

About Dagas

What life with Dagas looks like

Dagas is a medium-sized adult mixed breed dog waiting at Linksmosios pėdutės in Lithuania.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇱🇹Adopting from Lithuania

Frequently asked

Adopting Dagas, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Dagas?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Linksmosios pėdutės handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Dagas on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Dagas if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Linksmosios pėdutės will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Dagas already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Dagas isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Linksmosios pėdutės early rather than rehoming privately; they know Dagas and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (LT). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
