When Norman came to us, he was a shadow of a dog. Dirty, disheveled, neglected and above all terrified. The world was too loud, too fast, too hard for him. The barking of dogs behind the bars paralyzed him so much that he wasn't able to go for a walk. We carried him out through the gate of the animal shelter. There, just a few steps, a quick pee and that was all he could manage at the time. But Norman has something extraordinary in him. With each day, very slowly, he began to come out of his shell. Today he allows us to put on his harness. He walks on his own paws. He goes for walks independently, although the proximity of other dogs behind the bars is still difficult for him. He allows himself to be petted. And it's visible how much pleasure it gives him. In the kennel he approaches on his own, still a bit timidly, cautiously, but clearly enough to show how much he needs it and how much he has missed it. He is an extremely sensitive, subtle, delicate dog in every gesture. He has already had a bath and a brushing, his coat looks much better, and during the whole grooming he was perfectly well-behaved. Now, on cold days, he even allows us to put on his jacket. We are happy about every small change of his, because each of them brings him closer to a new life. To a home where someone will notice his delicacy. Where no one will rush him. Where he will get time, peace and tenderness. Norman is trying very hard. Now he just needs one thing. A person who will see in him what we see every day.

Kiedy Norman trafił do nas, był cieniem psa. Brudny, skołtuniony, zaniedbany i przede wszystkim przerażony. Świat był dla niego zbyt głośny, zbyt szybki, zbyt trudny. Szczekanie psów zza krat paraliżowało go tak bardzo, że nie był w stanie wyjść na spacer. Wynosiliśmy go na rękach za bramę schroniska. Tam kilka kroków, szybkie siku i to było wszystko, na co wtedy było go stać. Ale Norman ma w sobie coś niezwykłego. Z każdym dniem, bardzo powoli, zaczął wychodzić ze swojej skorupki. Dziś pozwala założyć sobie szelki. Wychodzi na własnych łapkach. Spaceruje samodzielnie, choć bliskość innych psów przy kratach wciąż bywa dla niego trudna. Daje się głaskać. I widać, jak ogromną sprawia mu to przyjemność. W boksie sam podchodzi, jeszcze trochę nieśmiało, ostrożnie, ale wystarczająco wyraźnie, by pokazać, jak bardzo tego potrzebuje i jak bardzo za tym tęskni. To pies niezwykle wrażliwy, subtelny, delikatny w każdym geście. Jest już po kąpieli i czesaniu, jego futerko wygląda znacznie lepiej, a podczas całego zabiegu był wzorowo grzeczny. Teraz, w mroźne dni, pozwala nawet założyć sobie kurteczkę. Cieszymy się z każdej jego małej zmiany, bo każda z nich przybliża go do nowego życia. Do domu, w którym ktoś zauważy jego delikatność. W którym nikt nie będzie go poganiał. W którym dostanie czas, spokój i czułość. Norman bardzo się stara. Teraz potrzebuje już tylko jednego. Człowieka, który zobaczy w nim to, co my widzimy każdego dnia.
