Twix

Mixed Breed · Unknown

Hi Twix, I was born in September 2013. I was a small, happy puppy - full of energy, trust and belief that the world is a good place. On May 10, 2014, I ended up at the animal shelter from Grzybowska Street. I don't exactly remember how I got there... maybe someone left me, maybe I got lost. I was then a small, about eight-month-old puppy - affectionate, mischievous, always ready to play. I loved people, especially when they stroked me behind the ear. On May 23, 2014, luck smiled at me - I went to a new home with a garden in Przezchlebiu! I was so happy. I believed that this would be forever. Unfortunately, not everything went as I dreamed... On June 6, 2015, I returned to the animal shelter. I couldn't get along with the child. I was terrified, lost - after all, I tried so hard. But I got another chance. On June 28, 2015, I moved in with a new family in Zabrze. Then I also thought that this would be the end of my wandering. For a while it was good... I had a home, I had a person. And then something went wrong again. I don't know why life keeps testing me so often. After years, when my second caregiver left, everything changed. He really cared about me - I could feel it. After his death, I was left alone. I ended up on the yard, as if I suddenly stopped being part of the family. For them it was easier - to give me a bowl and close the door. They didn't take me to the vet, they didn't ask if something hurt me, if I was afraid... And I was afraid. I was afraid of children, loud noises, touch. I didn't understand why I was alone again. On November 3, 2025, I returned to the animal shelter - handed over by my owner. I have a lot of sadness inside, but also still a spark of hope. Now, strangers - good people - are trying to make me trust them. They show me that a human hand doesn't always hurt. They teach me that I can love again and be loved. I believe that somewhere there is a real HOME waiting for me - quiet, warm, without shouting, without fear. One where I can finally sleep peacefully, knowing that this is really forever.

Cześć Twix,Urodziłem się we wrześniu 2013 roku. Byłem małym, radosnym szczeniakiem – pełnym energii, ufności i wiary, że świat to dobre miejsce. 10 maja 2014 roku trafiłem do schroniska z ulicy Grzybowskiej. Byłem wtedy małym, około ośmiomiesięcznym pieskiem – przytulaśnym, rozbrykanym, zawsze gotowym do zabawy.

About Twix

What life with Twix looks like

Twix is a adult mixed breed dog waiting at Schronisko Zabrze in Zabrze.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Twix, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Twix?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Schronisko Zabrze handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Twix on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Twix if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Schronisko Zabrze will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Twix already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Twix isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Schronisko Zabrze early rather than rehoming privately; they know Twix and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
