Jasiek

Mixed Breed · Unknown

Good day, my name is Jasiek and I am a small, several-year-old dog. I have been living in the animal shelter with Panko since February 8, 2023. We were taken to the animal shelter after an intervention by the Second Police Department, because our owner was hospitalized. Panko and I are dogs who are afraid of even the wind at this moment. Why? Because our owner did not take us outside, we did not know what a walk was, nor what a leash is for. Panko has a completely different strategy for dealing with situations, I run away wherever I can when I feel threatened. Now we live in a crate, when a person appears from one side, we run to the other. Yes, when they throw us meatballs or pieces of beef, we happily eat them, but it's just a second and we are gone. We are making progress with people who perform actions near us, for example: cleaning, tidying, etc. I am definitely more frightened by everything than Panko, although when I think there is no one around, I am able to approach the place where the caregiver was before. Unfortunately, this does not change much, because with so many dogs that cling to people and want to be with them, we outsiders do not make much of an impression, unless someone notices us. I have current vaccinations, deworming. I have been spayed, and I have already had the neutering procedure.

Dzień dobry, nazywam się Jasiek i jestem małym, kilkuletnim psem. W schronisku zamieszkałem wraz z Pankim 8 lutego 2023 roku.

About Jasiek

What life with Jasiek looks like

Jasiek is a adult mixed breed dog waiting at Schronisko Zabrze in Zabrze.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Jasiek, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Jasiek?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Schronisko Zabrze handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Jasiek on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Jasiek if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Schronisko Zabrze will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Jasiek already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Jasiek isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Schronisko Zabrze early rather than rehoming privately; they know Jasiek and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
