Sarabi und Kiara

Hello there, screen reader! We’re the Bengal cat sisters Sarabi and Kiara. Sarabi is the one with the brown fur—she’s 3 years old. I’m a year younger, and my coat color is called “Snow Lynx”—a very rare color variation in our breed. Meow! We were surrendered together to the animal shelter because we couldn’t stay in our previous home anymore. That was quite a shock! But luckily, we still have each other! We’re very attached and absolutely do not want to be separated. We’re both on the calmer side for our breed and don’t zoom around knocking things off tables and countertops. Instead, we love to chat—including that famous “final meow.” We also really enjoy cuddles, and playing with the “mouse-on-a-string” always sparks our curiosity. Still, the animal shelter feels unfamiliar to us… and honestly, we’d rather not get used to it at all. What we truly wish for is a real home—a nice, spacious apartment with plenty of climbing opportunities and secure outdoor access. This could be a large, netted balcony, a secured terrace, or an enclosed garden. You see, we’ve both tested positive for feline coronavirus—which is (only!) contagious to other cats. Of course, as you know, this has nothing to do with the human coronavirus. By the way, we used to live with a Chihuahua, but whether we actually need a dog to be happy…? As long as we have each other, that’s what matters most. Meow! Oh, almost forgot—I, Kiara, have something called bilateral patellar luxation-dingbats. Didn’t quite catch what the vet said. Anyway, my kneecaps don’t sit quite right, so I walk a bit “wobbly.” There’s always something, right? But it doesn’t bother me at all. Meow!

Guten Tag da draußen am Bildschirm. Wir sind die Bengalkatzenmädchen Sarabi und Kiara. Sarabi ist die mit dem braunen Fell, sie ist 3 Jahre jung. Ich bin 1 Jahr jünger und meine Fellfarbe nennt sich „Snow Lynx” – eine sehr seltene Farbvariante bei unserer Rasse. Miau! Wir wurde zusammen im Tierheim abgegeben, weil wir in unserem alten Zuhause nicht mehr bleiben konnten. Das war vielleicht ein Schock. Doch zum Glück haben wir ja uns! Wir hängen nämlich sehr aneinander und möchten auch auf keinen Fall getrennt werden. Wir sind beide eher ruhige Vertreterinnen unserer Rasse und toben nicht über Tische und Bänke. Dafür schnacken wir gern mal – inklusive dem berühmten „letzten Miau”. Auch genießen wir die Streicheleinheiten sehr und das Spiel mit der „Maus am Band” weckt unsere Neugierde. Doch das Tierheim ist einfach ungewohnt für uns … und eigentlich wollen wir uns auch gar nicht erst dran gewöhnen. Viel lieber hätten wir ein richtiges Zuhause in einer schönen, großen Wohnung mit vielen Klettermöglichkeiten und gesichertem Freigang. Das kann ein großer, vernetzter Balkon sein, eine gesicherte Terrasse oder ein eingezäunter Garten. Denn wir sind beide Corona-positiv getestet worden – und das ist (nur!) ansteckend für andere Katzen. Ansonsten wissen Sie ja, das hat das nix mit dem menschlichen Corona-Virus zu tun. Früher lebten wir übrigens mit einem Chihuahua zusammen, doch ob wir wirklich einen Hund zu unserem Glück brauchen …? Hauptsache, wir haben uns. Miau! Ach, fast vergessen, ich, Kiara, habe Probleme mit meinem hinteren Bewegungsapparat. Deshalb gehe ich ein wenig „unrund” und bekomme einmal im Monat eine Spritze, damit mir nichts wehtut. Irgendwas ist ja immer … Miau!
