Adopt Un vocabolario tutto

Mixed Breed · Unknown

As we all know well, one of the most common and caring behaviors of people who live with a dog is to often and willingly speak to their four-legged friend, delivering affectionate, playful, funny, and deep monologues in front of a puzzled little face that cannot grasp all that flood of words. In various occasions, however, people limit themselves to instructions or commands when "training" their dog or in situations where the animal must show civilized behavior: in these cases, the dog's prompt response really gives the impression of an exchange that works like a conversation. Dogs can indeed understand the intention of human communication by perceiving the rhythm and tone of the voice. According to a recent study conducted by Dalhousie University in Canada, dogs are also able to understand about eighty-nine words of human language on average. But among these, which ones are addressed to them most often throughout the day? It should be noted and taken into consideration that answering this question would require an in-depth and very extensive survey, which nevertheless would not be able to provide a complete picture of the number, variety, and uniqueness of the words each person addresses to their dog in very different moments and contexts, in conditions where they are more cheerful or tired or angry and in a thousand other circumstances. Therefore, in this article we can outline a totally abstract and generic case study, based only on experience and daily life with dogs. "No" is certainly one of the most frequent words: how many times is it repeated to prevent inappropriate behaviors or to deny permission to do something? Commands such as "sit," "stay," "down," "leave it" are probably the most used for training but also during recreational activities. "Down" or "stop" are terms used very often with more energetic dogs; the phrase "come here!" is a common call directed at all dogs, from the most obedient to the most rebellious. "Wait" and "hold" are phrases addressed to the dog when giving food or a treat; "let's go" and "to bed" are instead the ones often said to encourage the dog to go for a walk or to inform it that it's time to retire. In addition to more general and recurring expressions, each person then shares with their dog an endless set of vocabulary, phrases, nicknames, and codes that form a very personal "family lexicon," as the great writer Natalia Ginzburg put it. As stated above, it will never be possible to fully account for all this volume of words that so deeply enrich the relationship a person establishes with a dog. And you, Friends of Apaca: which words do you often say to your dog?

About Un vocabolario tutto

What life with Un vocabolario tutto looks like

Un vocabolario tutto is a medium-sized adult mixed breed dog waiting at Associazione Onlus Apaca in Italy.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇮🇹Adopting from Italy

Italian canili require adopters to sign a stewardship contract (affido) and may retain the right to verify the animal's wellbeing post-adoption. Animals are chipped and sterilized before leaving (Legge 281/91). Public canili rifugio typically waive adoption fees.

Frequently asked

Adopting Un vocabolario tutto, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Un vocabolario tutto?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Associazione Onlus Apaca handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Un vocabolario tutto on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Un vocabolario tutto if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Associazione Onlus Apaca will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Un vocabolario tutto already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Un vocabolario tutto isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Associazione Onlus Apaca early rather than rehoming privately; they know Un vocabolario tutto and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (IT). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
